Natural & Documentary Wedding Photographer in Leeds & Yorkshire

Hey! I’m Joe, a Leeds-based Wedding Photographer and I want your photos to show you how you truly felt on the day - an authentic and timeless rendition of one of the happiest moments of your lives, captured in a beautiful, but professional and un-obtrusive way. I take a thoughtful and considered approach, often working discreetly in the background in order to catch the most natural moments, only offering guidance and direction where required or requested - typically just throughout group shots and couple’s portrait sessions - with absolutely no awkward posing involved, but helpful direction

I only book a maximum of 20 Weddings per year to ensure each and every one receives the same level of care, artistry and attention to detail as displayed here. From pre-planning, including consultations, meetings and venue visits right through to editing and delivery, I devote a lot of time to each of my couples - and every single one of your photos receives a considered edit.

If you’d like me to be your Wedding Photographer, then you can get in touch using the form below and we’ll arrange a proper chat - summer spots especially tend to fill up way in advance!

  • Mr & Mrs Murphy

“We hired Joe to photograph our wedding in August and he couldn’t have been more brilliant! He was so friendly throughout the whole process and nothing seemed too much for him. He was super flexible as well and really seemed to grasp the style and vibe we were after. Joe was unbelievably professional, yet approachable, and I had so many people saying how lovely the photographer was. The photos at the end were absolutely incredible too. More than I could have hoped for! You won’t be disappointed if you hire Joe as your Wedding Photographer. He’s simply brilliant! Would give him 50 stars if I could!

  • Mr & Mrs Wenham

“Joe was a delight to work with from the moment he met us to discuss our day and the potential for different types and styles of photo. He was both fun and discrete on the day, knowing just how much to be involved and when to be in the background, dealing beautifully with children and family. We are also delighted with the photos, capturing the feel of the day and looking wonderful at the same time.”

  • Katie & Matt

"Joe is a great photographer and a lovely person to deal with. The early chats with him were really useful, and he quickly understood what we were hoping for from our wedding. Communication with Joe was easy throughout the process, which gave us confidence that things would go smoothly on the day. During the wedding Joe managed to get all the shots we asked for without being an intrusive presence. Many of our guests commented on what a nice, friendly person he was. We were blown away by the photos when we received them, Joe really managed to capture the essence of our day. I would highly recommend Joe for event photography at any occasion. "

  • Katy and Mark

"Joe is an absolutely incredible wedding photographer. Not only is he a lovely person who made everyone feel at ease, but the photos are stunning. They capture exactly how we remember our day, which is the highest compliment I could give! I would recommend him without hesitation."

  • The Gritts

Joe was amazing and exactly what we were looking for to capture the fun of our wedding celebration party. We’d eloped overseas so our UK celebration was a big party with our friends and family, and Joe absolutely nailed the balance of a few lovely but fun portraits with perfectly documenting the chaos of the evening. Joe shared some sneak peek photos really quickly which had us howling with laughter, and the entire gallery followed at lightning speed. We loved looking through and seeing all the amazing moments of our friendship and family groups mingling together, and having our memories jogged about all the silly moments Joe managed to capture. He was so pleasant to work with both in the run up and on the day, and was such a lovely presence at the party while also not being intrusive at all. We wouldn’t hesitate in recommending Joe to anyone whether it’s a wedding or another event, he’s brilliant.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Honestly, I’ll go just about anywhere for your wedding/celebration - travel within 150 miles of Leeds is included in my pricing, and for anything slightly further afield only small travel fees apply - let’s have a chat!

  • I get asked this often, and the truest answer is that it varies depending on your unique plans, timeline, number of guests and length of coverage. For example, typically if you book my full day package, you can expect to receive an absolute minimum of 500 photos from your wedding day - but it’s often many, many more, sometimes double that number

  • On average, 6-7 weeks. All my couples receive their wedding photos within a maximum of 8-10 weeks of their wedding date during peak times - I spend a lot of time carefully editing these and usually have several on the go at once.During off-season (outside of April-September) deliveries tend to be much quicker.

  • Yes! I work solely as a full-time photographer, also covering events and commercial work when I’m not shooting Weddings - I have Personal Liability Insurance, Indemnity Insurance and all my Gear is fully insured with multiple back-ups available if required on the day.

  • Most of the time I cover my Weddings as the sole photographer - in my opinion it’s rare to need a second shooter, but let me know your plans and I can advise in more detail. In instances where you’re likely to have over 120 guests, or if multiple locations are involved in the morning and you’d like extensive coverage of both parties preparations, then yes, perhaps a second shooter would be required, and can be arranged, but I’ve also managed to cover similar Weddings alone (with a bit of careful planning!)

  • This depends on your party size and shot list - typically I’m not one to want to take over proceedings entirely for an extended period of time - in my experience around an hour in total covers both quite adequately, but it’s more than possible to either extend that, or narrow that down to give you more time to enjoy your day with your guests - whichever you prefer.

  • Personally, I’ll work in absolutely any weather - obviously it’d be ideal to have a glorious sunny day, or perfect pre-sunset light, but we’ll be able to get great photos regardless of what the weather throws at us, trust me - you chose your venue for a reason, there’s always options! Whether that means using artificial light indoors, or braving the storm outdoors, I’ve got tricks up my sleeve and a range of equipment to get the most out of any scenario.

  • Absolutely! Although I can offer basic video packages as an extra, I do recommend having a dedicated videographer if video is something that’s important to you. I have a few recommended videographers I can put you in touch with, but have no problem at all working/collaborating with other vendors. I’d appreciate having their details beforehand so we can have a brief chat before the day, but that’s not a necessity!
